How to download the sound from a TikTok post for free

Sometimes the goal is simpler than audience research: find out what sound is playing in a clip and keep it. Here is how, without installing anything.

What you can actually get

A TikTok post carries a separate music block: track title, artist, cover and a link to the file itself. All of it belongs to the post metadata, which is why it is available without payment.

  • Track title and artist
  • The audio file, with a download button on the breakdown card
  • Sound cover and video cover
  • Post description and metrics: views, likes, comments

The steps

  1. Copy the post link through Share → Copy link.
  2. Paste it into the field on the home page.
  3. Wait for the card — it appears for free.
  4. Press the download button next to the track title.

When there is no track

Some posts use original audio that is not tied to a catalogue track. In that case the music block stays empty — this is not a failed breakdown.

Another reason for an empty block is an expired media link. In saved breakdowns those links are refreshed for free when you open them.

About rights

Downloading helps you identify and keep a sound, but it grants no rights to it. If you plan to use a track in your own clip or in advertising, follow the rights holder's licence rather than the fact that a file exists.
